Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible, through active engagement in safety activities and the provision of clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
Reviews quality/production schedules and assigns duties to workers according to quality priorities and job skills.
Coordinates work flow to meet quality/production schedules, using knowledge of quality equipment and inspection standards. Explains products to verify conformance to quality standards. Assists Quality Assurance Manager with dimensional and statistical data.
Reviews nonconforming products; completes and distributes documentation ensuring all nonconforming product is quarantined and dispositioned to production/suppliers per quality standards. Assists Production in determining root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions. Responsible for keeping QOO area clean and organized.
Coordinates receipt, maintenance and disposition of documentation, physical samples and related information regarding Customer Improvement Opportunities (CIO's). Provides support to responsible department to communicate customer information, obtain relevant production and inventory information, and coordinate completion of root cause analysis and corrective action investigations and relevant action item implementation.
Recommends changes in quality/production methods, use of equipment and standard operating procedures/work instructions to increase efficiency of the department and continually implement process improvements. Recommends changes in working conditions, use of equipment and quality methods to increase efficiency of department and improve quality performance to ensure quality of the product.
Responsible for daily inter-shift meetings. Confers with supervisors of other shifts and departments to coordinate all Quality activities in shift transition.
Develops and monitors training/skill program for each QA Tech. Conducts and directs training of new employees and continuous training to improve quality and skills. Suggests and initiates plans to motivate QA Technicians to achieve quality goals. Assigns and monitors QA Technicians' individual projects.
Conducts yearly performance appraisals and performs follow-ups throughout the year to monitor QA Technicians' progress.
Maintains time and QA Tech quality records in accordance with standard operating procedures. Examines company records to secure size and weight information of product and results of quality tests.
Directly supervises workers on his/her shift in the Quality Assurance Department and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the Quality Group. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists QA Technicians in solving quality/production problems.
Performs micro biologic testing when required by customer, or as an ongoing verification of sanitation activity.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Assumes duties of Quality Assurance Manager in his/her absence.
Actively participates in team building and group dynamics.
Programs and maintains all equipment in QA Lab.
Works directly with Production and Purchasing to approve color matches and reformulation.
Understands and follows all ISO 9001 procedures.
Understands and follows all SQF and GMP requirements.
High School diploma or equivalent
3-5 years of experience in Quality
Manufacturing Supervisory Experience preferred
Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Ability to direct and work effectively with all departments
Great communication skills
