SUMMARY:

Own the design-related aspects of a large scale technology transformation and application development program for our MRO business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIILITIES:

Top Areas of Focus:

  • Interface Design: Lead the visual design aspect of a reimagined, digital-first MRO app experience. Develop and manage the Design Language and Interface Guidelines that then drive development, deployment, and iteration

  • Product Design and User Experience: Develop a deep understanding and empathy for the complex interactions between people and technology; leverage that understanding to surprise and delight anyone interacting with our technology products and solutions

  • Resident Creative: Push boundaries, unlock creativity and novel approaches, within the team and for the product portfolio

  • Integrator: Manage the participation by a variety of input and feedback-providing groups (end users, vendors, senior business leaders, etc.)

  • End User Engagement: Ensure user engagement throughout the design and development cycles. Manage a complex cross section of participants from technology and business teams

Role Details/Duties:

  • Help develop and refine end user personas, user journeys, wireframes, and high fidelity visual designs interface elements

  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into design requirements

  • Use Domo/analytics tools to analyze performance indicators, evaluate experiments, etc.

  • Participate in the creation and refinement of proper product documentation and promotional material (in some cases)

Skills/Characteristics:

  • A balance between creativity and practicality (ability to think/speak in operational terminology) and a passion for delivering compelling technology experiences that unlock efficiency at scale

  • Empathy for busines users and a keen ability to understand before/after states of large-scale transformation and how to build a bridge between them

  • Excellent communication skills and a clear vision for overall Product Design

  • Comfort with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and fluid prioritization

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality output, while understanding and matching pace with key implementation partners (Development, DevOps, Product, Innovation)

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years working as part of a technology team in an enterprise context (or as a contractor/freelancer in similar, ongoing product development) - aviation/aerospace experience a plus

  • 3 years in a design leadership role for one or more products (solo delivery or direct leadership

  • Robust portfolio of enterprise app design projects / deliverables

  • Experience with large scale MRP or ERP systems required (multi-facility, thousands of users, highly distributed)

  • Participation in major technology transformation(s) a plus
