Oracle Site Reliability Engineer - REMOTE in Westchester, Illinois

Develop, analyze and maintain tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product release.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Typically seven years of software engineering or related experience needed.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

We are looking for talented engineers to join our expanding cloud team for food and beverage software. You will help build and operate a suite of integrated cloud services that deliver best-in-class features to your favorite restaurants and eateries.

As a site reliability engineer, you will be responsible for helping ensure our systems are reliable and scalable by designing processes, automating deployments, building tooling, and guiding development teams to adhere to best practices for the cloud.

_How do you know if you are right for this job?_

  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques, tools and methodologies.

  • You have built or want to build automation tools and components to aide in installation and provisioning of cloud-based applications in cloud providers like Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, or similar.

  • You understand the value of continuous delivery and want to help teams release frequently and often to production, with high quality.

  • You have helped develop and manage systems in production environments.

  • You have the ability to tackle both large and small problems.

  • You have a strong desire to continually learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies, including those out of your comfort zone.

_Experience and skills you will need_

  • Solid understanding of core computer science fundamentals including common data structures, algorithms, and concurrent programming.

  • Strong experience with at least one scripting language such as Ruby, Python, or JavaScript.

  • Working knowledge of containers and supporting tools like Docker, Podman, etc.

  • Experience using container orchestration tools like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical capabilities.

  • Passion for developing clear, robust, and testable software.

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

_Experience and skills we hope to see_

  • Prior experience solving automation problems such as deployment orchestration, continuous integration, etc.

  • Familiarity working with at least one major cloud platform, such as Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.

  • Experience with infrastructure automation with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.

  • Understanding of security principles and how they apply to cloud-based software.

  • Background working on publicly available, production systems.

  • Skill with additional programming languages such as Java, C#, C , Scala, Go, Clojure, etc.
