Our location in Lake County, IL currently has an opportunity for Supervisor Facilities / Support Services. The position of Facilities Supervisor is to provide leadership and direction to trades and contract personnel in the delivery of facility and utility maintenance activities in Lake County for the evening shift.
This position provides facility support activities and fulfillment of operations requirements for effective delivery of building maintenance and contracted services as well as providing focus on building utilities. Contracted services include Housekeeping, Waste Management, Vending, Electrical, Mechanicals, Maintenance Fleet Vehicles, Site Laundry Services and other building infrastructure internal/external services. The objectives of this position are to meet the facility needs of Abbott, Lake County Building J54 in a manner which provides high quality and rapid response while excelling at customer service. This position is responsible for day to day activities of the department including Performance Excellence, quality of work, skills development, work load assessment and assignment, training, coach / counseling, etc. Work is performed in or support of manufacturing, plant operations (utilities / facilities) and general office areas.
Provide strong leadership to the department in the coordination and execution of building and utility maintenance activities and related facilities operations activities while ensuring that good manufacturing practices, department operations procedures, Abbott Safety Policies and Abbott quality policies are understood, communicated and followed by the department and support service organizations.
Spend majority of each day on the floor supporting facility and utility needs, interacting with all areas and levels of staff while providing significant hands on support. Maintain a superior level of housekeeping and GMP exterior to the plant as well as in the plant common areas such as offices, breakrooms, restrooms and hallways.
Perform all Performance Excellence responsibilities for the department / team including Setting Expectations, Feedback & Incentives and Development.
Ensure that manpower needs match workload requirements and vice versa, workload requirements match manpower availability on a day to day basis and looking forward into the future. Short and long term mismatches are resolved through discussion and review with peers and manager
Support procurement and management of non-bill of materials orders and stockroom including PPE, sanitizing/cleaning supplies and general Operations supplies. Manage service agreements and scheduling of services.
Provide and maintain tools and equipment necessary for the effective completion of work assignments. This includes hand tools, communication devices, PCs and software appropriate to facilitate effective delivery of building maintenance operations.
Bachelors of Engineering with 4 or more years of facility management or maintenance experience or 5 – 7 years experience in facilities maintenance, facilities management, utilities, facilities operations industry.
4 – 6 years Supervisory / Management experience
Strong problem solving, communication and analysis skills along with demonstrated vendor/contractor management experience
MAXIMO / Computerized Maintenance Management System experience
Procurement system software experience such as SAP
