Edward-Elmhurst Health Data Quality Engineer in Warrenville, Illinois
Responsible for working on data quality efforts related to data integration and data platform. Works across multiple teams to build and automate frameworks such as anomaly detection, reporting, and alerting to ensure data quality. Works collaboratively across teams to determine priorities and best methods for achieving objectives and works closely with more senior level team members to accomplish goals and provide optimum customer service. Works on projects/tasks as identified by senior team members.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Quality Improvement - Proactively identify potential data issues and downstream impact. Identify existing data issues and perform research and root cause analyses to determine resolution. Work collaboratively with BI / Analytics team to achieve and verify resolution. Establish processes and standards to improve data quality assurance and implement efficiencies in data management. Define measurements and metrics to conduct and present routine data reports to the project team and stakeholders.
Data Management - Participate in data acquisition and integration planning efforts including data modeling, data dictionary definitions, and data harmonization pipeline development. Develop a deep understanding of multiple genomic datasets and the technical data management software and processes of the underlying system. Define data quality and integrity criteria and develop a comprehensive data quality management plan to lead key data QC efforts through team collaboration for all phases of the data management life cycle.
Technical Writing - Contribute written knowledge and expertise to system documentation, user documentation, scientific manuscripts, reporting, grant proposals and reports, and presentation materials. Stay abreast of broad knowledge of existing and emerging technologies and QC tools in the cancer genomics space.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Information Systems, or relevant course of study or commensurate experience
3+ years of relevant work experience
Ability to understand database schemas and translate findings into functional meaning for the business
Familiarity with metadata concepts
Familiarity with data profiling techniques
Exposure to data governance, data standards and data policies
Experience with metadata management tools.
Clear and effective communicator: written and verbal
Ability to convey complex concepts to business stakeholders in terms relevant to the business
Organized, structured, methodical.
Strong prioritization and time management skills.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Experience working with healthcare data
Experience with the Epic System, specifically Cogito Analytical tools
Hands on exposure to relational database technology and SQL development
Knowledge of Data Quality, Metadata, Lineage and MDM
Experience building solutions with one or more of the following tools/technologies:
Microsoft SQL Server Database technologies: SSRS, SSIS or SSAS
Experience in Talend Data Quality, Data Stewardship and Data Catalog tools
- Epic Cogito Certification will be required within 6 months of position start date
