Job Title: Sourcing Specialist
Reports To: Senior Director, Supply Chain
Position Location: Vernon Hills, IL
FLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): Exempt
A qualified candidate continuously lowers Cole-Parmer’s total procurement cost on existing finished goods, raw materials, indirect supplies and services globally. The candidate does this through strategically leveraging key vendor relationships, global sourcing efforts and competitive sourcing techniques as well as providing tactical resourcing support during supply chain disruptions.
Collects, categorizes and analyzes direct and indirect spend throughout Cole-Parmer’s network to identify critical saving opportunities.
Provides guidance and prioritization to Cole-Parmer’s APAC sourcing team. Works closely with product management team members globally for collaborative cost savings projects.
Establishes corporate vendors for key spend categories.
Prepares necessary data points and specifications, develops challenger vendors, executes on sourcing events, completes full analysis, confirms stakeholder alignment and awards business.
Assists with on-boarding of new vendors awarded business and seamless transition of procurement from incumbent to challenger as needed.
Tracks progress of cost savings projects and provides regular updates to senior leadership on achievement to goal.
Mobilizes alternate vendors to limit customer delivery disruption during vendor supply disruptions.
Operates within and provides guidance to Cole-Parmer’s overall sourcing strategy.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Scientific/ Engineering field
Experience working in a business-to-business setting preferred especially in a vendor management or vendor selection role.
Strong analytical skills backed by intermediate ability using EXCEL (V-Lookups, pivot tables, advanced formula usage).
Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressures, within deadlines or other time essential constraints.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely communicate to all levels of the organization.
