Position Summary:

The Vice President of Quality is responsible for leading quality initiatives throughout the system, to assure excellent patient outcomes and adherence to best practice. Oversees regulatory reporting, accreditation functions, quality data analysis, and continuous improvement efforts. Drives improvement in clinical outcomes and assures a high degree of patient safety. Coordinates system efforts with a goal of top decile performance.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Masters in Nursing CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Illinois RN License and CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Ten years healthcare experience with progressive leadership responsibility. Direct experience with quality, accreditation, and regulatory requirements. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High degree of organization, ability to advance systems thinking and ISO principles. Experience with DNV and CMS regulatory programs required.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the Quality division to a high degree of team member engagement, productivity, and financial stewardship.

  • Fosters an organizational culture of high reliability and safety thinking, where the patient comes first in decision-making and problem-solving;

  • Acts as key contributor in reducing cost and improving the quality of healthcare across Carle sites;

  • Develops system resources, reporting, and structures which advance the quality of care in all Carle locations;

  • Leads accreditation and regulatory reporting efforts. Assures Carle leaders are kept abreast of key regulatory changes, and oversees reporting for all Carle sites.

  • Provides leadership to patient safety, infection prevention, clinical outcomes, and peer review functions for the health system.

  • Supports, develops, and evaluates service line accreditation and registry functions.

  • Matures and advances ISO processes and system thinking, as a part of a well-developed quality management structure.

  • Directs activities of Quality Oversight Committees at all organizations

  • Prepares Board Quality materials and reports

  • Rounds in clinical locations to support quality of care

  • Attends and supports best practice initiatives throughout the system
