Position Summary:

The Sterile Processing Distribution Core Tech is responsible for verifying all instruments, supplies, and audits for surgical cases. Acquires and Maintains an advance knowledge of OR instruments and supplies in order to provide assistance to OR and SPD staff, particularly in problem solving with the OR and SPD staff.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT). EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One (1) year Sterile Processing or Supply Chain experience OTHER REQUIREMENTS Adapts to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a direct, empathetic and articulate manner. Numerical ability to perform instrument management. Proficiency in personal computer, knowledge of Epic and SPM Software. The position requires the ability to write English and document information about supplies and instruments; able to communicate in writing as well as verbally in a clear and concise manner.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that Instrumentation and supplies are available for surgical procedures.

  • Exhibits special expertise innumerous OR speciality areas.

  • Works in the OR Decontamination area to expedite turnover of trays if OR Liaison is unavailable.

  • Making necessary changes to staff assignments

  • Checking outdates once a week

  • Complete shift change report

  • Receiving and distributing loaner trays

  • Checking DaVinci arms to ensure they are available for next day cases

  • Check thedryer on a regular basis

  • Auditing case carts

  • Communicate with OR/SPD Liaison with status of turnover trays and missing trays

  • Delegate assisgnments as needed

  • Works in conjunction with OR/SPD Liaison

  • Acts as a lead when Manager or Supervisor are unavailable
