Position Summary:

The Data Warehouse Developer contributes to the design, development, and analysis of data architecture and warehousing projects to meet analytic business needs and improve performance. A Data Warehouse Developer integrates disparate data sources, moves data from source to target systems, creates custom extracts for external vendors, designs and creates physical and logical data models which includes normalizing and conforming data using industry or business specific standards.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Associates Related Field or Bachelors Related Field CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS None Specified EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree with five (5) years of relevant experience OR Associate's degree with ten (10) years of relevant experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems and Windows Office Suite. Advanced computer skills including Windows-based applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, etc) or other online collaborative tools. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of database theory and practice, database structures, query languages, and concepts. Demonstrated knowledge of one or more programming languages (i.e. SQL, Visual Basic, C#). Demonstrated knowledge and ability to create business or logical modeling on dimensions, schemas, hierarchies and data elements. Demonstrated ability to develop objects and structures for data storage, retrieval and reporting according to project specifications. Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and test ETL processes to interface data into merged reporting environment. A practical understanding of data integration problems, including validation and data cleansing Experience with administration on multiple reporting or BI tools (Crystal Reports, Business Objects, Tableau, Microsoft Reporting Services) Proficient ability to analyze, monitor and trouble shoot data and data loading processes to ensure data integrity. Knowledge of scripting, job scheduling, source target mapping and data governance. Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities. Proven ability to interpret data, identify trends, and anomalies. Proven aptitude and interest in working with complex situations/problems, systems, and processes. Essential Functions:

  • Lead the design, development, and analysis of data architecture and warehousing projects to meet analytic business needs and improve performance.

  • Collects and analyzes complex end-user requirements and evaluates the feasibility of these requirements from a technical perspective. Identify strategies for gathering data from operational databases and 3rd party vendors for inclusion in the warehouse.

  • Leads the design and creation of physical and logical data models (dimensions, schemas, hierarchies, data elements and marts). Identifies industry or business specific normalization standards.

  • Designs and implements complex level database solutions and enhancements to ensure an improvement in system reliability and performance. Execute and monitor ETL jobs

  • Provides mentoring and performs complex quality audits of processes in order to verify data integrity. Creates test scripts to identify and address data inconsistencies

  • Identify and develop new material to meet internal documentation needs and standards.

  • Proactively identify problems and facilitate process improvement activities. Provide root-cause analysis for any BI related issue and provide recommendations.

  • Identify tasks and resources; Establish timelines; Manage and prioritize tasks; Communicate status follow-up items; Collaborates with other departments; Ensure successful completion of tasks and projects

  • Provide leadership, training, and mentoring opportunities to staff on the effective use of reporting tools, data structure and content, report tuning, etc. Provide leadership in improving the quality and efficiency of departmental work processes.
