Description

A Technical Trainer participates in, and conducts technical training programs within our IT, Software and Telecom departments. Determines training objectives. Being a Technical Trainer writes training programs, including outline, text, handouts, and tests, and designs laboratory exercises. Lectures class on safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of software, machinery, and equipment, following outline, handouts and texts. Additionally, Technical Trainer administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees' performance. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager. To be a Technical Trainer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

  • Assesses employee training needs and overall program needs to develop appropriate training sessions for improvement

  • Revises existing training and/or prepares new training for functional subjects, prepares course outlines, designs course methodology, and performs classroom instruction using visual aids, handouts, and exercises

  • Schedule training sessions and enrollments

  • Arranges for training locations, secures equipment and supplies, and assesses training impact

  • Works with leadership team to gain desired goals and results of the sessions to develop educational material relative to those needs

  • Develop and conduct competency testing to measure training result

  • Provides training reports including tracking and compiling competency scores

  • Observes and coaches employees to identify competency gaps

  • Demonstrates and creates a helpful and positive work culture

  • Encourages and builds positive relationships and communicates effectively with all co-workers, outside customers and possibly vendors

Requirements

Job Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Bachelor's degree in Technology or other business related field.

Tier 1 knowledge level in networking, servers, and desktop support.

CCNA preferred.

Two plus years of experience working in a technical training position.

Strong knowledge of executive coaching, facilitation, and training program administration.

Strong knowledge in instructional design and program evaluation (ADDIE model)

Administers and manages training materials, set up and delivery of classroom trainings and virtual trainings.

Knowledge of networks, servers and telephony

High level of communication skills, organization and time management

Ability to multi-task variety of assignments

Problem solving skills

Must be a self-motivated individual with a willingness to work well with others on a regular basis
