PC Systems Specialist
Jacobs is seeking a qualified PC System Specialist professional tosupport the IT Service Management (ITSM) contract at Scott AFB, IL. Jacobsprovides information technology solutions and services to a broad range of bothGovernment and private industry, including Department of Defense, FederalCivilian agencies, healthcare, education, and small/medium business market. Ouranalysts, engineers, and technicians are highly trained, qualified subject matterexperts, understanding each segments specialized business processes,requirements, and functions. Combined with an extensive IT background,Information Solutions Group's enhanced IT services enable our clients toanalyze existing business processes, identify process improvements, evaluateassociated risks, and develop operational solutions.
The PCSystems Specialist performs analytical, technical and administrative work inthe planning, design and installation of new and existing personal computer systems.The selected candidate will work on moderately complex applications and conferwith end users to determine types of hardware and software required. Inaddition, they will write programs to fulfill requirements or selectappropriate off-the-shelf software and modify it to suit. Additionalresponsibilities include:
Provideremote and/or desk side support to USTRANSCOM users to aid in theimplementation of new capabilities, resolution of software problems, and assistin troubleshooting issues associated with accessing and utilizing servers andperipherals
Respondto alerts when received and take appropriate action
Trainend users in use of equipment and software
Maintainor utilize telecommunications protocols
Installnew hardware and maintain existing hardware
ApplyGovernment approved operating system updates and/or patches
Maintaina whitelisting capability for application for use on the desktop (e.g.Applocker)
Troubleshootand resolve system problems or issues to increase system reliability and enhanceoverall system performance
Loadand configure approved client software on end-user devices as necessary tosupport access to services and use of peripherals
Configureand maintain network settings on USTRANSCOM’s end-user devices
Remediateand resolve vulnerabilities identified during monthly security scans to ensureall USTRANSCOM end-user devices are in compliance
Respondto Classified Message Incidents (CMI) and take appropriate action to remediateissues
Respondto incidents in the performance of this subtask IAW paragraph 1.6, IncidentPriority and Escalation Matrix
Documentmaintenance actions in the ITSM system
Whenrequired, Transport workstations to and from customer work area within one (1)business day for on-site customers and two (2) business days for customersoff-base within the local area, configure and connect workstation, and testworkstation for functional operation
SupportProblem Management activities and document work-arounds, and identify the rootcauses of problems
Supportthe Event Management process by providing thresholds and key performanceindicators to monitor end-user device service
End-usersdevice support may be extended to 24 hours per day and 7 days per week duringreal-world events, contingencies, exercises, or as requested by the Government
Thisposition requires an Associate’s degree with 5 years of experience or a totalof 7 years of related experience. An IAT Level II certification is required.The minimum of an interim Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required.
Requires sitting for extendedperiods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal forlong periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parkingavailability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances cansometimes be required.
Insideoffice/cubicle environment. Requires ability to interact professionally withco-workers and all levels of management (100%).
Requires ability to operate apersonal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment(100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or currentstate of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specificrequirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.
Attendanceis critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week,Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous andon-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuityof service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little asone-hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required(1%). Must be able to support 24-hour Weekend/Holiday On-Call Operations andrespond onsite within two (2) hours of notification.
Must beable to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able tointerface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able toobtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriatefor the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee orothers. An IAT Level II certification is required. The minimum of an interimSecret level DoD Security Clearance is required.
