Working the3rd Shift (9:30 PM-6:00 AM the following day), the O/F Supervisor supervises, assists and coordinates activities of workers engaged in order picking, verifying, and preparing customer orders for shipment and keeping records on the progress of customer orders by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Studies customer orders and assigns equitable distribution of workload among order pickers to ensure timely and efficient processing of orders and to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules. Screens orders for problems, including freezable products in winter, meltable products in warm weather, improper levels of empty gelatin caps and related substances.
Oversees order picking activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and good condition of shipments, and that shortages are listed. Directs and assists order pickers to locate and pick orders from manual work orders and place product in boxes in preparation for shipment. Directs and assists order pickers to assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets, mark materials with identifying information, and convey orders to packing station or shipping department.
Directs movement of orders from warehouse shelves, through order picking, verifying, and packing.
Determines when to ship orders and compiles records of filled orders including weight and shipping charges. Prepares bills of lading.
Directs movement of shipments from packing area to shipping docks. Ensures that proper instructions are given for shipping and packing.
Adjusts errors and customer complaints. Obtains and evaluates complaints related to order picking and packing, and discusses them with subordinate responsible for the error.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
Communicates with other departments to fulfill customer orders.
Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred and/or three to five years' related experience in supervisory or lead position.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or coworkers.
Ability to perform basic math functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to operate forklift truck and previous experience with order picking and/or general warehouse procedures required.

The employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), slide, raise and/or place:
Pallets from floor onto side, move up to 10 feet and return to original position at a weight up to 55 lbs.
Up to 55 lbs. from 5 inches off the ground up to 36 inches high and return to original position.
