AMERICAN ALUMINUM EXTRUSION Maintenance Apprentice in ROSCOE, Illinois

JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position is responsible to assist mechanics, electricians, and electro-mechanical technicians in repairing/replacing valves, pumps, tires, and motors; In addition to performing preventive maintenance on equipment, tanks, roof, seals, pumps, and other related terminal equipment or machines. Perform simple assembly, disassembly, repair work or general housekeeping. Assist with basic repair of industrial equipment, including lubricating, greasing, rotating or cleaning equipment. Load, unload, or move tools, materials, supplies, and parts to and from job locations by hand. Prep the work area where electrical and mechanical activities are to be performed. Work in other maintenance crafts or work areas as assigned to broaden general knowledge of preventive maintenance and other crafts. Observe and study blueprints, schematics, manuals-and techniques of skilled employees to acquire a basic working knowledge of electrical and mechanical crafts. Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns. Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork. Complete all other duties as assigned. Cross-train, learn and support other functions or processes as required. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles and procedures. Knowledge in the proper use and care of hand tools/accessories (various types of pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets, sockets, tape measures) and common shop equipment/ machines such as drill presses, circular and table saws, blazing and soldering equipment. Ability to develop into an electro-mechanical technician 2. Knowledge of light machining, milling and fabrication. Ability to complete accurate documentation and work on computers. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, working safely. Flexible to work overtime or change shifts as required. Ability to work on the production floor with exposure to dust, fumes, odors, loud noise, and varying temperatures. Ability to do work requiring standing with frequent stooping, bending, reaching overhead and sufficient manual dexterity to perform all aspects of the job. Ability to lift and move parts/equipment up to 50 pounds.
