PURPOSE:
The primary objective of the Safety Coordinator is to safely, effectively and efficiently review, track, communicate and report the daily tactical actions of the Environmental Health & Safety Department. The Safety Coordinator will directly support the Environmental and Safety Lead to promote a positive and safe work environment based on Owens Corning’s standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor Environmental Health & Safety Trends in the plant to drive reduce risk
Maintain documentation of training and recertification as required by corporate and federal/state standards via Learning Management Systems (e.g. Lock Tag Try (LTT) and Forklift training)
Review Incident Reporting for Hazard submissions and Safe Behavior Observations (SBOs)
Monitor and communicate plant safety incidents (Near Miss, Property Damage, First Aid etc.)
Establish/train/coordinate waste and salvage handling procedures including transportation of dangerous goods/hazardous waste, landfill systems and on-site storage (e.g. drum yard)
Assist in the maintenance of good housekeeping through housekeeping/ facility audits, waste to landfilled audits, organizing, and readiness for tours and audits etc.
Conduct and document regular facility inspections
Supervise plant compliance with Process Safety Management standard
Lead safety training and other activities
Coordinate safety and environmental initiatives (e.g. plant recycling program and activities)
Update and Maintain Life Safety Equipment (AED and First Aid inspections, Eye Wash stations and Fire Extinguisher etc.)
Assist with the Corporate Health and Wellness pillars
Assist in the development of TPM as needed (5s Events)
Provide support with talent development during new hire orientation
Perform other related duties as assigned or required as needed help drive the Plants Goals and Objectives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Knowledge of General OSHA safety regulations and standards
Experience with conducting Risk Assessments, Job Hazards Analysis (JHAs), and Safe Behavior Observations (SBOs)
Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE :
Associate Degree, A.S (Fire Science, Environmental Health and Safety or Related fields) or in process of Bachelor's degree preferred
OSHA General Industry Training 30 Hour
Leadership Experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Knowledge of Owens Corning policies and OSHA Standards and Regulations
Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
Effective communication skills oral and written
Ability to work equally well as a team member or alone
Self- motivated to work independently and meet goals
