Thermo Fisher Scientific Manufacturing Support Scientist II, Antibody Production & Custom Servi in Rockford, Illinois


Maintain detailed documentation and implement updates in support of ISO requirements.

Produce the highest standard of quality in antibody production.

Drive continuous growth through training and participation in systems such as: 5S, Lean and Practical Process Improvement.

Ensure on-time delivery of production work and projects.

Perform independent troubleshooting of the following procedures to address manufacturing problems: protein isolation and purification, chromatography (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion), protein modification (cross-linking, fluorescent, protein and small molecule conjugations), protein lyophilization, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.

Set up and take down of lab ware.

Collaborate with production scientists and lead of QC work cell to understand procedures and identified problems.


Master's degree in Medical Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or related field of study plus 2 years of hands-on lab experience in an antibody manufacturing role or related experience. Employer also accepts a Bachelor's degree in Medical Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related field of study plus 5 years of hands-on lab experience in an antibody manufacturing role or related experience.

Must have experience or knowledge of:

Carrier protein conjugations with peptides or fusion proteins;

Antibody purification and modification;

Antibody validation with WB test;

Antibody validation with ELISA test;

Antibody validation with IHC test;

Antibody validation with IP test;

Antibody validation with IF test;

Antibody validation with FACS test;

Antibody validation with SDS-PAGE test;

Tissue and cell culturing;

Transfection, cloning and protein expression;

Small and large scale buffer preparations;

Protein/enzyme assays; and

UV/VIS Spectrophotometry measurements.
