This role cleans surgical instruments for all three campuses. You will get to learn the different responsibilities for decontamination, disinfection, inspection. You’ll learn how to assemble and sterilize reusable medical instruments, and equipment.

Receives instruments for cleaning and decontamination.
Disassembles and separates all instruments properly.
Inspects for function and damage of instruments.
Operates all equipment and uses all appropriate chemicals provided.
Reports any damaged and/or malfunctioning surgical instruments.
Follows OSHA guidelines in regards to universal precautions and usage of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Demonstrate the ability to accurately inspect and assemble instrument trays, according to count sheets.
Demonstrate the appropriate handling and care of surgical instruments.
Demonstrate the ability to verify the surgical sets are labeled correctly.
Ensure that all equipment/surgical sets are maintained per manufactures instructions.
Maintain and monitor sterilization records.
Inspect records for variances of temperature, time, pressure, and documents.
Demonstrates proper techniques when handling items.
Sorts sterile items for distribution to other departments.
Monitor the use of medical supplies and equipment.
Displays positive attitudes towards all employees and fellow health care team members.
Builds personal accountability by accurate work performance.
Does weekly and monthly department cleaning when assigned.
Accepts responsibility for compliance with policies and procedures.
High School or GED Required
Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
Knowledge of medical terminology is helpful, but not required.
Must be able to set priorities and react appropriately to different situations.
Must possess critical thinking skills and have the ability to work independently.
Must possess a strong desire to learn.
Must be able to work under strict time constraints.
Must be able to maintain confidential information.
