The Sr. EHS Manager leads, plans, coordinates, creates, innovates, supports and directs the Richmond Site Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program to support compliance with EHS regulations and standards and to drive the effort to mitigate or eliminate EHS risks with focus on Danaher Business System (DBS) and improvement of leading EHS indicators that support a long-term vision and strategy of EHS excellence. We can have the right candidate work between our Richmond, Illinois location 80% / Buffalo Grove, Illinois location 20%
The Sr. EHS Manager must have a strong ability to influence and lead associates, set direction and vision and provide support to all levels within the organization via the Danaher Business System. This individual must have strong problem solving (PSP) skills with a systematic and analytical approach while partnering with key stakeholders to drive to root cause and provide sustainable solutions. The Sr. EHS Manager will communicate with employees at different levels and must be able to deliver effective communications both written and verbal. The Sr. EHS Manager must have the ability and emotional intelligence to manage and resolve conflicts effectively. Additionally, the Sr. EHS Manager must be able to oversee and prioritize multiple demanding projects and prioritize the critical few. A qualified candidate will have strong business acumen and be successful driving the platform’s EHS initiatives using Danaher Business System (DBS) tools.
This position reports to the Richmond Director of Operations and maintains a strong dotted-line functional report to the Global Director EHS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with Richmond leaders, Global Director EHS, and Danaher EHS leaders to set EHS Excellence strategies and annual goals (KPIs) for the Richmond site, analyze performance, identify opportunities and set strategies and policy for year-over-year improvement and sustainment.
Manages the Richmond EHS strategy, top level KPI bowler, and supports other EHS related daily management activities and tactics.
Manages the Global Business Continuity (BCMS) and emergency response strategy.
Provides summary reports and visual management on the progress towards EHS goals, on site EHS activities, and any agency/regulatory inspections/violations.
Serves as lead auditor for Richmond Site EHS Platform audits of global facilities, tracks audit completion, and aids facilities to resolve action items; provides site support and guidance for Danaher Corporate EHS Compliance Audits.
Manages the FM Global (property insurance) program bowler and recommendation execution to achieve and maintain property risk targets, including tracking and assisting on resolution of recommendations, updating FM Global MyRiskTM and verification of sustainment and credit for site level Highly Protected Risk (HPR) status.
Assists with and provides guidance for site level environmental and safety regulatory reports prior to submission (Tier II, Form R, BLS, etc.); manages top level GenSuite compliance calendar.
Assists with data collection and maintenance of customer EHS requirements including training, certifications, and maintenance of third party vendor assurance
Leads implementation and sustainment of 4E (JHA / FMEA) Danaher Business System (DBS) tools including development for growth (D4G) of certified Danaher 4E practitioners.; expected to earn 4E Certified Practitioner certification within 18 months.
Participates in EHS focused kaizen; participates in other kaizen to learn and leverage existing DBS tools such as 4E, Kamishibai, and Danaher EHS Risk Score improvement strategy. Ensures EHS risk is integrated into operations and support function transactional kaizen and PSP activity including 5S, SMED, Lean Conversion, Value Stream Mapping, and variation reduction.
Develops and delivers presentations to and provides advice to operations management, individual site leadership teams and EHS professionals/staff; maintains strong working relationship with Operation team
Provides guidance/support to manage EHS related regulatory responses and follow-up activities towards positive outcomes that minimize regulatory and reputational risk.
Demonstrates and applies EHS regulations and standards and leverages guidelines and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Expected travel approximately 10-15%
Basic Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) •Min. 7-10 years of EHS experience in manufacturing environment Preferred Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) with focus in Environmental Management & Sustainability, Occupational Safety & Health Management, Industrial Hygiene, or other related science/engineering degree (required). •Master’s degree in business (MBA) or related science or engineering (MS/MA) field of study (preferred). •Experience working in an FDA regulated environment. •Experience working in an environment that handles various types of chemicals including formulations and filling operations.
