Context/Scope :

  • This role is a direct report to the VP Procurement NAM Supply

  • Diageo’s Procurement structure is a matrix model utilizing both Global and In Market resources; this role will be a part of the North America in market team.

  • Lead the development and execution of the NA procurement strategy for the Capex, Third Party and MRO categories. Interface with Global Procurement counterparts to identify opportunities in the Capex and MRO categories and develop strategies that maximize value for the NA market.

  • Lead key negotiations of contractual agreements to ensure that they meet Diageo’s business needs, adhere to corporate standards and financially deliver against our value commitments.

  • Partner with Engineering & Conversion to embed structure and discipline in the End-to-End Capex sourcing & asset sale/redeployment process.

  • Serve as a highly influential leader & change agent to the broad stakeholder community as it relates to the sourcing, CARS and contract execution process – particularly in the category of Capex,

  • Member of the NA Procurement and Supply extended leadership teams

Purpose of the Role:

  • Accountable for the NA procurement sourcing strategy and commercial management of suppliers in the Capex and Third-Party Manufacturing category.

  • Accountable for contributing to the company's overall economic profit by leading the execution of value creation projects – i.e. ensuring favorable NPV for key Capex investments and/or driving cost-out / value-add initiatives within the supply base that directly impact Diageo’s cashflow/P&L.

  • Set strategic marketing, sales and procurement direction for relevant spend/sale area

  • Required to be the functional expert on the group of category areas and present opportunities to the organization on a strategic level

  • Has ability to act as a champion for change and create organizational momentum to deliver.

  • Displays great judgement in selection the appropriate opportunities to tackle

  • Provide coaching & leadership to the MRO category Manager role to manage risk and deliver optimal value for Diageo

Key Outputs and Deliverables:

  • Responsible to embed discipline and credibility in the financial governance process for the Capex and MRO categories. Align with Finance & Global Procurement counterparts on a consistent methodology to track & report value delivery.

  • Accountable to provide strategic sourcing leadership to stakeholders for all expenditures in the Capex & MRO categories, which are expected to exceed $140m

  • Gather and share market intelligence in the co-pack supply market to facilitate in-sourcing vs. out-sourcing decisions

  • Foster positive relationships with core preferred suppliers that are critical to Diageo’s business strategy

  • Developing and implementing standards in the selection process for all new suppliers and customers

  • Actively develop the external supply base to create competition and provide sustainable sourcing solutions for current and future projects

  • Identify & track beverage industry trends and their resultant impact on the market rates of external production capacity and idle production equipment/assets.

  • Links with NA and Global Procurement leaders to leverage knowledge as well as search and spin opportunities

  • Strong working relationships with the commercial aspects of the business as well as leaders in Planning, Innovation/ Brand Change, Finance, Technical operations, Conversion and Procurement team

  • Analyzes markets, suppliers, and industries at the strategic levels to develop vision

  • Oversees the key communication and all associated projects/initiatives/savings

Qualifications and experience required:

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or equivalent

Experience

  • 7-10 years of procurement, supply or related experience within a forward thinking, fast paced and value-adding environment.

  • Analytical, strong business acumen, enthusiastic, tenacious and a team player

  • Experience in procurement, direct or indirect

  • Confidence and experience in communicating at senior stakeholders.

  • Experience in influencing senior level stakeholders and leading teams

  • Demonstrated experience in leading/managing organizational change

Barriers to Success

Lack of any of the following:

  • Experience in managing a complex stakeholder community.

  • Functional Procurement & Category Management experience.

  • Appropriate level of numeracy and financial / analytical ability

  • Sensitivity to cultural and personal impact. Develop interpersonal skill and effective relationship management.
