THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION for a AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC (Title 32), Position Description Number D0710000 and is part of the IL AASF 3, National Guard. As a AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC (Title 32), WG-8810-5/8/10, you will perform maintenance, removal, installation, inspection, troubleshooting and testing of aircraft rotor andpropeller systems. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Perform maintenance, removal, installation, inspection, troubleshoot, and testing of aircraft rotors. Perform maintenance, removal, installation, inspection, troubleshoot, and testing of propeller systems. Test and troubleshoot aircraft rotor and/or propeller systems using special tools and test equipment. Diagnose any malfunctions of rotor and propeller systems and make necessary repairs. Disassemble, repair, and reassemble rotor and propeller system components. Disassemble, repair, and reassemble internal hydraulic and electrical components using common to special tools and equipment. Skilled in the use of common and special tools and equipment. Repair and refinish blades and propellers using a variety of metal working tools. Repair and refinish blades and propellers using a variety of precision measuring instruments. Perform troubleshooting of powertrain systems using special tools. Perform troubleshooting using special tools and test equipment. Perform troubleshooting of powertrain systems and diagnose any system malfunctions and make necessary repairs. Disassemble, repair, and reassemble powertrain components such as drive shafts, gear boxes, and mast assemblies. Subject rotor, propeller, and powertrain parts to a variety of nondestructive testing to identify imperfections not otherwise detected. Operate magnetic, dye, or electronic equipment. Serve on maintenance assistance and instruction teams throughout supported area. Skilled in the use of precision measuring and testing instruments such as precision micrometers and vibration analyzers.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted Only GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements; and experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level - Must possess at least 18 months of experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft propellers, assemblies, and accessories; experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft propellers, components, for rotary wing aircraft; and experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis. WG-08 Level - Must possess at least 12 months of experience or training removing and installing components and accessories with detailed guidance; experience in following detailed instructions in making minor repairs and modifications to aircraft propellers, subassemblies and components. WG-05 Level - Must possess at least 6 months of experience or training in the use of common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision; and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
