PROJECT ENGINEERING INTERN

Job Summary

The project engineering intern will assist the team responsible for taking projects from the conceptual stages through closeout. This position will support one or more experienced project engineer in the execution of assignments, spend time shadowing operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of Project Engineering.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning and management of valve and turbine maintenance, repair, and overhaul projects

  • Support the project engineer with the direction for the shop crew in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of turbine components including valves, rotors, diaphragms etc.

  • Review inspection data and provide repair recommendations and technical solutions to project engineer

  • Provide unique engineering solutions to customer issues while still maintaining the OEM design intent and quality

  • Aid with the management of outage project scope, schedule, budget, and respond to customer queries

  • Interface with customers, engineering and manufacturing staff on a regular basis and ensure a competent and timely completion of projects

  • Support reverse engineering group in the manufacture of replacement components

  • Create new inspection sheets, process procedures and quality control documents for the inspection and repair of turbine components

  • Support business cost reduction and process improvement initiatives

Minimum Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the operation and assembly of turbine generator equipment, including experience in evaluating and improving steam and gas turbine performance

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate technical processes, use process and test data

  • Ability to develop solutions to problems in equipment performance

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate, coordinate, and accomplish objectives with internal and external teams

  • Strong commitment to customer service in order to develop and maintain a positive and professional relationship with customer(s)

Education:

  • College student pursuing a bachelor?s degree in Mechanical Engineering
