The Village of Orland Park’s Public Works department seeks a regular Part-Time Hydrant Painter to join the Utilities Division and provide consistent service to our residents and the community we serve. As a Part-Time Hydrant Painter you will support the Utilities Division by performing varied, semi-skilled maintenance, construction and custodial duties relative to the Village's Potable Water, Stormwater and Sanitary Wastewater Collection Systems.
Specifically, this role will clean, grease, paint, perform routine maintenance and make minor repairs on fire hydrants while utilizing light duty motor vehicle equipment and tools. Other duties include assisting with water plant and lift station operations, performing routine custodial duties and equipment maintenance, receiving and responding to work orders, as well as picking up, transporting and delivering goods or equipment. This position may also requisition parts, equipment, materials and supplies as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Must have a High School Diploma/GED and a valid Driver's License. Three years of previous maintenance, construction or utility water and wasterwater experience is preferred. Skill in the use of hand tools and in the operation of electric powered construction tools and equipment is required. Good communication, verbal and written skills are also required.
The ability to work within time constraints and to maintain tact and composure in stressful situations is a must.
Hours: Up to 19 hours per week.
