The Senior Engineer, Data & Analytics will work directly with business and technology teams to understand and bring clarity to AbbVie’s commercial data landscape. The role will focus on data lineage, data processes and interdependencies. The Senior Engineer will play a critical part in leading data investigations to resolve various challenges concerning data accuracy and quality. The role will lead process improvement initiatives, develop processing efficiencies and create knowledge bases (data catalog and documentation), as well as participate in projects as an individual contributor.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Conceive, design, engineer, and implement software and technology solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise.
Demonstrate high proficiency across a wide range of technologies and platforms related to software design and development, programming languages, data integration, data warehousing, data analysis and visualization tools, data storage, network connectivity, and virtualization/cloud environments.
Demonstrate knowledge of the pharmaceutical and healthcare business, and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions
Highly autonomous and productive in performing activities, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor.Keeps key stakeholders informed through effective verbal and written communication.
Matures and leverages relationships with affiliates, subsidiaries, vendors, and industry peers in accordance with Abbvie Values, Vendor Management Office, and Purchasing to further the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
May mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.Business analysis, data analysis and data audits.
General Responsibilities Include:
Works directly with business unit clients to understand specific business processes and needs and opportunities for improvement; identifies IT capabilities and information required to support the business processes and collaborates in the development of appropriate information management strategies, developing them as an integrated part of the business strategy.
Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
Identifies current and emerging business needs and evaluates alternative IT solutions using standard information systems methodologies and best practices.
Proactively seek out strategic business opportunities with business unit executives for the application of new or existing IT capabilities.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 12 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience.Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own discipline.
Proven implementation of creative technology solutions that advanced the business.
Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
Experience in data analysis and data audits is required.
Ability to function effectively in an environment with multiple and fluctuating priorities.
Experience working with cross-functional team is required
Preferred knowledge: Project Management, good data understanding in Sales Crediting, knowledge of IQVIA, SHA data.
Experience with SPSS, Teradata SQL Assistant, SAS, Excel Macros, SPP, MDM, experience with Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) processes and writing Structured Query Language (SQL queries) is a plus.
