Day-to-Day Role of a Lead Facility Maintenance Mechanic:
Repairs and maintains boilers, air compressors, process systems, hot water heating systems, water softeners and pumps.
Repairs and maintains heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
Performs electrical and plumbing maintenance, carpentry, welding, painting and masonry work.
Ensures the facility, grounds, and equipment are maintained in accordance with the SSOP standards.
Assists with ordering of parts, material supplies and services necessary to support facility maintenance and utilities. Assists with resolving problems, in ordering, receiving or quality of parts or services.
Works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
Supervises facility maintenance department in the Facility Maintenance Supervisor's absence.
Performs project work as assigned.

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
Ability to work overtime as needed
Ability to work weekends as needed
One (1) year of experience performing facility maintenance tasks
One (1) year of experience of maintenance and repair on equipment including boilers, air compressors, cooling tanks, process systems, hot water heating system or water pumps/water softeners
One (1) year of facility maintenance leadership experience
Mechanical aptitude to include familiarity with hands-tools, power tools, electrical systems, plumbing, fabrication, blueprint/schematics
Knowledge and understanding of fire sprinkler systems and fire alarm panels
Ability to obtain & maintain state EPA water operator’s license
Ability to be available for work 24/7 for emergencies
Ability to obtain and maintain forklift and aerial lift certification
Ability to obtain and maintain respirator fit test
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with vendors, staff and management
Good organizational skills
Familiarity with and ability to use computers
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Previous welding and fabrication experience
Ability to work using high lifts
A valid driver's license
