Must demonstrate a working proficiency in all types of the common materials used by the branch. This position requires no supervision to provide technical instructions or training on procedures, company policies, work instructions, shop protocol and the Global Shop ERP and time keeping system. This position is expected to mentor/train the less experienced machinist.Successfully perform all duties of machine setup including identifying and using fixtures, holding devices, tool selection and setting toolsOperate the machine safely and effectively by monitoring operations and making adjustments necessary to machine, holding devices or tooling to ensure a quality part is producedMaintain a 99% average 1st Time Quality, performance per quarterMaintain a 99% average On Time Delivery, performance per quarterMaintain a 99% average cost, performance per quarterWork effectively from work orders, prints, sketches, layout sheets, written or verbal instructionsProduce product/parts to tolerances identified within the machine's capabilityUse measuring instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipersComply to all company policies, processes, SOPs, procedures, work instructions either written or verbalBasic math skills including the ability to Calculate Speeds & FeedsMust be capable of performing dimensional inspections as required to ensure geometry and features meet specifications.Additional duties as assigned.Position RequirementsRequires High School Diploma or equivalent.Ability to read and interpret average assembly drawings is required.Ability to make average to complicated arithmetic calculations and resolve elementary technical problems is required.1 year of related or subordinate experience plus 1 to 3 years on-the-job training is required.Physical/Mental RequirementsMust be able to sit for extend periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours.Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the office. shop, warehouse, or manufacturing plantMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 40 pounds.Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area.Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment.Must be able to work at a fast pace.Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, changing priorities and reassign priorities.Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.EHS RequirementsAdditional duties and responsibilities will vary based upon departmental needs.Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistent with supporting the Company's goals.Lifting guidelines in accordance with the Manual Lifting Guidelines noted in the Safety Handbook.Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company's environmental performance goals.Complete, and actively participate in all other EHS training requirements.Work EnvironmentWork environment is typically considered within a Smiths location during normal or extended business hours to include offices, manufacturing plants and repair facilities.
