As a Section Manager in the Casting Department, you will supervise and provide leadership to assigned manufacturing and Finishing areas while adhering to Caterpillar’s core values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, commitment and sustainability. You will own the value stream map for your respective section and partner with support groups in the implementation of changes needed. You will drive continuous improvement efforts as well as practice and teach BIQ, Lean Processing, Right Part Right Time and CPS principles.

Job duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitors and improves shop floor safety, aggressively eliminating unsafe processes

  • Ensures that processes are followed to meet production schedules

  • Determines priorities and sequences jobs

  • Schedules and prioritizes constrained resources, and adjusts staff to meet flow and customer requirements

  • Increases production efficiency through continuous improvement and waste elimination

  • Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule

  • Implements Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma and Internal Certification

  • Evaluates, assesses, identifies and leads the deployment of workforce training

  • Section Value Stream Mapping

  • Actively deploys value stream improvements

  • Practices and teaches CPS Guiding Principles

  • Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members

  • Drives root cause corrective action projects and continuous improvement

  • Leads section status reporting and monitors / audits section metrics

  • Leads the creation, implementation and training of standard work procedures

This position may offer relocation to a top candidate.

This position requires 10% or less travel.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 1 years leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated experience with SAP

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel computer applications

  • Lean manufacturing experience

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • 2 Year degree in Manufacturing or Supply chain discipline

  • SAP power user experience

  • Foundry experience

  • Good human relations, interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Ability to positively influence and motivate a team through a strong commitment to Our Values in Action
