Position Overview

This position is responsible to support the execution of Body components sourcing strategies, driving cost reductions, supply base management and supplier consolidation. The Supply Manager’s key activities include overall supplier performance management, administration of supplier contracts such as pricing updates, contract maintenance and will act as Purchasing’s primary point of contact for supplier escalations on issues with Quality, Delivery and Pricing disputes.

The Supply Manager will support the Category Manager for Body components and will be working cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with product development, program management, quality, manufacturing, sales & marketing, risk management, finance, logistics, product pricing, supply chain and more.

Essential Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Maintain communication to Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, and Engineering customers and escalate issues when needed – know who, when, and how to communicate effectively with all Stakeholders

  • Supports Body Components Category Manager to execute a category sourcing strategy for High Risk suppliers.

  • Own commercial relationship with suppliers, facilitate supplier onboarding

  • Resolve issues with supplier invoicing, debits and chargebacks

  • Build and manage relationships with cross functional team members and management.

  • Facilitate communications between external suppliers and various internal departments to resolve queries or issues

  • Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that product quality, on time delivery and service levels are met.

  • Support Category Manager by analyzing category spend to identify and develop new cost reductions as well as assure contract pricing and parameters are up to date.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 5 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience


  • Master's degree

  • At least 3 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience


  • At least 7 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

  • Ability to travel 20-30%

Desired Skills

  • Procurement background with experience in the automotive or commercial vehicle industries

  • Analytical skills, including data mining

  • Manufacturing background a plus

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience with sourcing components, discovering competitive options and negotiating deals

  • Ability to effectively cope with change and to handle ambiguity

  • Excellent time management skills – can organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet specific deadlines

  • Ability to establish relationships and encourage cooperation between organizations

  • Ability to follow-up and drive for results/resolutions

  • Work effectively in a team environment
