The Reliability Senior Technical Specialist supports Quality Management within assigned Advanced Programs by providing expertise and advise on Design Robustness activities, including DFMEA, DRBFM, DRBTR, Failure Mode risk roll-up, DVP. This role will be pivotal in the deployment of RFE in Navistar.

  • Determines Quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to design processes. Highly proficient with Statistical & Reliability packages such as Minitab, Weibull Smith, Reliasoft etc. with proven track record of applying variance studies, product / design life data analytics to deliver Business Results.

  • Prior experience on New Product Launches

  • Conducts investigations, analyses information and facilitates teams dealing with issues/projects associated with resolution of quality problems.

  • Promotes the use of reliability techniques to ensure root causes of issues are being identified and addressed. Participates in product design reviews and program discussions to ensure plans are avoiding/mitigating risks adequately.

  • Contributes to the development and implementation of methods, procedures and equipment that ensure superior & flawless Product Launches

  • Utilize warranty/reliability data to establish program reliability targets in support of overall cost of quality business objectives.

  • Proficiency in Accelerated Life Testing Methods.

  • 6 Sigma Black Belt certification a definite plus.

  • Certified Reliability Engineer a definite plus.

  • Experience and Composure with facing Customers

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies

  • At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies

  • At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

OR

  • PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies

  • At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

• Excellent understanding of Quality Management practices, Reliability Allocation Methods, Robust design, Reliability Mathematics, DfR, Load- Strength Interference, Reliability Predictions & Modelling

• Prior experience leading Reliability Testing activities, including Reliability Demonstration Test designs.

• Proficient in root cause analysis and formal problem-solving techniques, ability to multi-task on multiple high profile programs.

• Prior experience with Statistical Analysis of Warranty Data; Familiarity with Statistical packages such as Minitab, Reliasoft, WeibullSMITH, SQL, Advanced Excel etc. a plus.

• Familiarity / Comfortable with Vehicle / Engine related technical concerns

• Prior experience on Advanced Program Launches

• Advanced computer application, good oral and written communications skills
