The primary purpose of this position is to monitor, manipulate, and manage corporate data processing system resources located at Alight to achieve optimum systems performance and availability. This person is required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws working onsite in a busy 24x7 global operations center.   


  • The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Monitor, manipulate, and manage multi-tiered corporate system resources using technical knowledge to optimize throughput and provide optimum system availability.

  • Analyze business and technical problems as they arise in corporate system resources and provide expeditious resolution or, if required, quickly escalate.

  • Share any training, guidance, or technical assistance to support staff, and write or assist in gathering information and communicating with team members across various shifts.

  • Document operating procedures for the systems and subsystems used in Operations.

  • Schedule and coordinate daily computer operations using scheduling systems, productivity tools, and associated commands to ensure timely completion; troubleshoot production work or systems as it fails or comes to an unsatisfactory conclusion.

  • Perform system-wide Initial Program Loads (IPLs) and reboot systems as required to restart failed or downed computer systems; ensure startup parameters and functions are correct.

  • Participate in major incident management process during major outages and communicate with support teams and management as needed

Experience/ Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Computer Operations running a large data center with Mainframe, Midrange and Server platforms is ideal.

  • 3-5 years of experience and knowledge of z/OS operating systems on mainframes is strongly desired.

  • z/VM operating systems knowledge a plus.

  • IPL knowledge is necessary.

  • Some relational database awareness, particularly DB2 a plus.

  • CICS transaction processing experience a plus.

  • Committed to providing customer service that makes both internal and external customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.

  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.

  • Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency and work under highly stressful situations and under pressure

  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks.

  • Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes.

  • Ability to work within strict time frames and resolute deadlines.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, and SharePoint)

  • Ability to be a self-starter and have excellent follow-through.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Must be willing to work elongated hours all shifts, and holidays as needed.

  • Working with technical teams from multiple locations (India, Canada and U.S).

  • Intermediate knowledge of and experience with the following is helpful:

  • Productivity Tools: MAINVIEW, Ejes, 3270 terminal connectivity, TSO, ISPF, Ejes, and Control-M, New Relic, WebEx, or comparable monitoring and scheduling packages.

  • Mainframe Operations: CICS, DB2 or comparable relational database, JCL, Automation (IBM’s), system commands, and troubleshooting techniques for systems and subsystems.


Associate's degree (AS) in Information Systems, Computer Operations, or related field, plus three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a large-systems or multi-tiered operational environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
