Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0732000 and is part of the IL AASF 2, National Guard. Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-8801-10, you will supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated nonsupervisory work. Work involves two or more dissimilar or unrelated occupations. The organization and nonsupervisory which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Systems, WG-8801-10. This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Set performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Adjust informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives. Work to achieve the objectives of Government-wide programs and policies, e.g., equal employment opportunity and labor management relations. Ensure that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed with appropriate protective clothing and equipment being utilized. Initiate or participate in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining. Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Assure that equipment and materiel is available when needed. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Make adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Note and investigate work related problems and independently implement corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ยง 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted Only - Not to exceed the rank of E-7/SFC. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; ability to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-10 Level - Must possess at least 36 months of specialized experience or training for the WS-10 Level, which includes installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting parts, subassemblies and components and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Supervisory Specialized Experience: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must possess experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
