Kelly Services CMM Programmer in Itasca, Illinois
CMM Programmer : 6-month contract
Kelly Engineering Resources is hiring a CMM Programmer for a 6-month contract . In this role, you will join a leading manufacturer of electronic controls, switches and valves. You will work at our client’s headquarters in Itasca. You will work as part of a small team that assists with New Product Introduction and sourcing. You will support test plan development by verifying part dimensions. This will include dimensional inspection as well as writing and creating CMM and Vision System Programs. You will have the opportunity to utilize the latest Inspection Technology available.
Flexible Hours: Monday-Friday, either 7AM-4PM or 8AM-5PM
Check and verify dimensions of a variety of parts & tools using CMM, vision systems, calipers, pin gages, micrometers, optical comparator.
Machined parts, Injection Molded plastic parts, Die Cast parts, Stamped or Fabricated parts, etc.
Mold tooling – pins, cavities, cores, process validation, material qualifications, 1st Article inspection.
Must be able to perform detailed surface inspections of complex contour for finish and dimensional attributes
Utilize profilometers and comparator for surface roughness
Reads and interprets drawings with GD&T dimensioning and specifications.
Write and create CMM & Vision System programs
Provide metrology documentation to support measurements, will use Excel
Utilize Excel for data reporting.
Perform monthly calibrations using high-precision, highly accurate measurement instruments on basic machined, mechanical, and/or electronic gauges in a timely and efficient manner.
Ability to judge raw material against specifications
Organize and assist in the resolution of part, process or system constraints
Ability to analyze nonconformances
Ability to make product judgments against specifications and performance standards
Provide training and/or guidance to other Quality Control and Manufacturing personnel.
Prioritize inspection requests
Communicate with suppliers on measurement plan
Follow up with plants on production line test runs
Qualifications of the Successful CMM Programmer
High school Diploma or GED and 5 to 7+ years inspection experience required
Advanced certificate or coursework from college or technical school (machinist, engineering technology) preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience
In-depth understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), required.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and read blueprints, required.
Proficient in the use of calipers, micrometers, gages, optical comparators, and programmable equipment.
Proficient with writing & creating CMM Programs is required (any software)
Proficient with Excel and other MS Office tools is required
Vision system programming is a plus
Prior experience operating 3D Laser scanning or Romer Arm a plus
Prior machine shop QC experience is a plus
Working knowledge of PPAP is a plus (you will verify dimensions for PPAP not create PPAPs)
ASQ Certified Qualified Technician or Certified Mechanical Inspector is a plus
Understanding of good manufacturing practices.
