Fortive Corporation Equipment Maintenance Technician in Glenwood, Illinois

We are looking for a reliable, knowledgeable maintenance worker to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout our facility. In this position, you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional and maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment running efficiently and trouble-free. Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job, as the ideal candidate will have some work experience and good technical knowledge. You should have the manual dexterity and physical stamina necessary for this work.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment daily

  • Performing completely preventative maintenance

  • Handling repairs and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tools

  • Diagnosing equipment issues and correcting them

  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol

  • Survey buildings systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety regulations

  • Report to maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress

  • Aid in budget development and ensure it is followed

  • Develop performance and growth plans annually and review with manager quarterly

  • Provide production quality improvement report to manager and team

  • 2 - 10 years of related working experience

  • Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, and lift heavy objects (40+ lbs) for an extended amount of time

  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools

  • Experienced in operating a variety of industrial manufacturing equipment 5+ years

  • Experience of stepping motors, servo motor system, sensors, barcode scanner/camera, and equipment safety training

  • Ability to act competently in emergencies

  • Ability to read and utilize equipment technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics

  • Proficient of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Words, PowerPoint, …)

  • General passion for creative problem-solving

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with team

  • Organized and detail-oriented (5S)

  • Flexibility of working overtime/ weekend/ holiday to support production in-person or on-call duty

  • Experience of operating drilling, milling, latching, and grinding machines is plus.

  • Experience of PLC (AB, Mitsubishi), robotics, and CAD system is plus.

  • Experience of Kaizen, PSP, SW, 5S, and Six Sigma is plus
