The Quality Assurance Lead?s primary responsibility is to assist is the execution of quality processes and procedures in support of Vital Proteins Quality Assurance program. The Quality Assurance Specialist will carry out the company vision and mission through his work, as an integral part of the Vital Proteins team. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Lead will operate out of the Vital Proteins production facility in Franklin Park.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Pull samples of raw materials, work in progress materials, and finished products and performs lab testing required and or send to 3rd party laboratory

  • Perform quality checks on incoming raw materials, packaging components, and labels

  • Perform quality checks during production and assist with batch production records

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment

  • Report any process errors, product failures, or deviations to supervisors

  • Create controlled documents

  • Create and review completed batch production records

  • Reviewing, evaluating, releasing and holding both raw and finished materials per reported testing results

  • Enforcing employee personal hygiene, appearance, uniform and cleanliness up to GMP standards and adherence to HACCP, GMP, NSF and SQF programs

  • Create result review records for components, work in progress, and finished products and release/reject materials

  • Enter results and or product information into database or files

  • Provide guidance to Quality Assurance Technicians

  • Execute all process in accordance with company standard operating procedures and cGMP

  • Other duties as assigned

Who you are:

  • Bachelor?s degree in food science or a related field

  • 5 + years of prior experience in a quality role, food manufacturing preferred

  • High attention to detail

  • Comfortable in a fast paced, changing environment

  • Microsoft Office product suite capability including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint

  • Experience working in a cGMP environment for food or supplements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • You are passionate about the health, fitness, and/or beauty markets

  • You are obsessed with details, quality and accuracy

  • Can lift 25-50 lbs. on occasion
