Scot Forge Company Furnace Technician in Franklin Park, Illinois

Scot Forge is seeking a talented individual to successfully troubleshoot, install, build and perform traditional condition-based maintenance requirements. This position will require an employee to learn new skills and may be asked to work in various roles, departments, shifts and locations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain equipment to the standards set forth by internal procedures specifications.

  • Maintain knowledge of process through training, perform scheduled observations, and provide quality feedback in order to promote safer work behaviors and conditions.

  • Diagnose combustion, electrical, and other equipment problems using a variety of test procedures.

  • Dismantle combustion, electrical, and other equipment, replace defective parts, reassemble, and test.

  • Work from quality procedures, customer specifications, industry specifications, machine manuals, and instructions from Group Leader, Supervisor, and Service Technicians.

  • Understand and work with wiring diagrams and schematics.

  • Install and modify equipment in accordance with code requirements.

  • Perform calibrations, tuning, and preventive maintenance as required by specifications and procedures

  • Maintain accurate documentation of tests and calibrations and prepare appropriate reports

  • Update test and testing procedures in training manuals and computer programs

  • Perform preventative maintenance

  • Communicate production and equipment problems to appropriate team members

  • Assist in the installation of refractory’s and setup cure out of castable refractory’s

  • Understand and follow the Scot Forge quality policy.

  • Work in cooperation with all fellow employee owners to sustain a strong team atmosphere


  • Associates Degree in Advanced Manufacturing (Electrical/Mechanical), from an accredited Technical College or Industrial Mechanical Certificate

  • 2 years maintenance experience to include strong mechanical and electrical skills

  • Use of forklift, manlift and cranes

  • Use of electrical/electronic test instruments (PLC’s welder, saws, common hand tools)
