Systems Analyst

SUMMARY: The Boyd Group is looking for a Systems Analyst to design, implement, maintain, and support our fast growing server and database infrastructure. You will be a part of the IT Infrastructure team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, and highly available infrastructure to support business objectives and defined SLAs.



  • Take the necessary actions to meet daily/weekly/monthly goals and objectives.

  • Effectively communicate to all peers and supervisor.

  • Provide daily supervision and direction to all production staff.

  • Monitor the performance and health of servers and databases.

  • Provide support, documentation, and guidance to vendors to ensure they are meeting their goals.

  • Assist in the development and deployment of security policies and standards. Ensure vendor and employee adherence to standards.


  • Ensure that the values, objectives and quality standards of the Company are achieved/met.

  • Monitor server deployments to ensure uptime and performance.

  • Periodically work with Director of IT Infrastructure & Manager of Cloud Services to review and audit vendor work.

  • Assist in the design of a data warehouse that can support thousands of geographically dispersed users with minimal interruptions and maximum fault tolerance

  • Provide deep (Tier-3+) resolution for complex Windows server issues. Act as a liaison between the business and outside vendors to ensure proper resolution.

  • Provide technical expertise in the setup, optimization, and montoring of Microsoft SQL servers.


  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneous with overlapping deadlines.

  • Ability to orchestrate mass network changes through a combination of industry tools and scripting.

  • Work within a change control environment to effectively communicate, document, and implement change.

  • Build runbooks for various servers to allow for effective Service Desk and “remote-hands” troubleshooting.

  • Architect monitoring solution to allow for rapid response to network issues from both vendors and internal resources.


  • Ensure that all injuries are immediately documented and called in to Human Resources Department.

  • Participate in on-going safety training.

  • Ensure that work areas are kept clean and safe and that employees operate under safe working conditions.

  • Comply with any safety directives when working in production environments.


  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.

  • Maintain a good rapport with all employees of Gerber.

  • Take responsibility in your area of employment with Gerber for reporting, making recommendations and correcting situations adverse to the Company’s best interest.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Indirectly manage the work of vendors to ensure proper quality and timeliness of work.

  • Solid understanding of relational databases. Hands-on experience building and maintaining Microsoft SQL Servers.

  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and related systems.

  • Understanding of cloud environments such as Azure and AWS.

  • Understanding of virtual environments and associated networking (VMware, Citrix, etc).


  • High School Diploma/GED and 6-8 years related work experience required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.

  • MCSE or related Windows certifications highly preferred.

  • ITILv3 Certification or experience working in an ITIL environment preferrred.

  • At least 3 years hands-on experience with Microsoft Servers.

  • Identity and Access Management experience a plus.
