Our Des Plaines, IL site has an opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer . The Senior Software Engineer will develop software for automated IVD systems for AMD. Participate in a team-oriented environment to

define and develop user interface, business rules, data management or embedded system control applications. The job function can include providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance for more junior engineers.


  • Software development responsibilities include executing software development life cycle activities from software requirements, design and implementation through design verification.

  • Must develop software test strategies including regression analysis.

  • Responsible for developing test plans and test cases for software components.

  • Develop, test and integrate software using current software technologies.

  • Responsible for fault isolation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities during system integration and testing for systems in development and on-market.

  • Able to apply the latest software design and development tools and techniques as required.

  • Experienced individual contributor position.

  • Activities will be under the guidance of a more senior engineer or Software Program Manager, with direction for a Program Manager.

  • Accountable for meeting deliverable commitments including schedule and quality requirements compliance.

  • Must have skills to plan and schedule own work activities, coordinate activities with others software engineers and review other software engineer’s work.



  • Experience covering the entire software life-cycle in a team-oriented environment.

  • Experience in designing, authoring, and executing software tests

  • Experience with test automation.

  • Experience in trouble shooting issues.


  • Ability to form and develop interpersonal, professional relationships; display socially and professionally appropriate behavior.

  • Ability to work independently and in groups; ability to work cross-functionally. Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills and critical-thinking skills.

  • Ability to prioritize. Strong organizational and project management skills. aptitude to lead without direct authority.
