This is an exempt level position.
The position is a leadership role within the Quality & Food Safety team. This position provides proactive leadership in the development, implementation, execution, and performance of the Quality Assurance strategy and organizations in order to protect and improve Oilseeds products. In addition, to leading efforts focused on verification of activities that have a direct effect on Quality. The position oversees Quality Assurance functions within the manufacturing facilities responsibilities for product safety and quality, supplier compliance and performance.
This position reports to the Oilseeds Global Director of Quality & Food Safety.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides technical guidance on quality programs to management.
Develops and leads QA quality audits to ensure standards of quality, sanitation, etc. are met.
Initiates quality assurance product surveys, analyzes data and provides recommendation for actions.
Collaborate with various departments to develop schedules, project plans, and cost estimates for implementing new activities, procedures, or methods to improve the quality and performance of the organization’s products.
Researches, evaluates, and recommends investments in technology, capital, equipment, systems, or other assets.
Works with Operations when raw materials change due to crop year, end of year crop or operations changes vital to ensure that their products meet quality standards.
Serve as a key leader during crisis management. Depending on severity of situation, position will direct cross-functional response team to evaluate and determine corrective action/safeguards as the need arises to ensure product safety and quality. Lead the food recall and food crisis management processes.
Provide operational direction for the organization by understanding vision and business plan and redefining into tangible quality objectives with both a short-term and long-term impact.
Outline Quality’s expectations for internal and external partners as it relates to each project.
Lead’s MOC which have a direct impact on Quality.
Guide and coordinate the prioritization and resource management relative to the company-wide quality objectives related to Quality.
Conduct divisional wide planning of activities (across Oilseeds NA Division) and to build and maintain the visibility around the planning. This planning will also be working with EU and SA.
Ensure internal laboratory calibrations are in place and validated for all product assurance activities.
Ensure appropriate Quality Assurance systems are maintained and continuously improved at all manufacturing sites.
Lead customer Root Cause for rejection related to Quality.
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related Science field or 3 years’ prior Quality Assurance experience.
Prior Quality Assurance, Sanitation experience / knowledge of manufacturing activities.
Focus on food safety and customer needs in all aspects of work.
Ability to prioritize while maintaining Quality requirements.
Good problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
Computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to lead and advise remotely with manufacturing facilities.
Ability to travel 30-50%
