The Environmental Monitoring Technician I will perform all environmental monitoring tests required to monitor the manufacturing controlled areas at Akorn’s Grand Avenue facility.

n

nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: n

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

n

n

+ Must be able to demonstrate and apply good aseptic technique and cleanroom behavior.

n

+ Must be able to demonstrate and apply good gowning technique during certification, re-certification, and routine monitoring.

n

+ Must be able to understand the operation and application of all monitoring devices that are automated or manual operation in the department.

n

+ Must be able to demonstrate the ability to monitor and document all environmental parameters, such as viable sampling, personnel sampling, temperatures, humidity, and differential pressures under static and dynamic conditions.

n

+ Fill out cleanroom information sheets.

n

+ Label all cleanroom plates for production runs.

n

+ Record the exposure time on the plates and also on the cleanroom information sheet.

n

+ Plate all personnel on their exits from filling.

n

+ Perform required sampling utilizing contact plates, settling plates, RCS strips, and swabs.

n

+ Perform environmental monitoring testing on scheduled days.

n

+ Log in all plates in proper logbooks in the Microbiology Laboratory.

n

+ File environmental control sheets in proper folder.

n

+ Update sample information in laboratory databases.

n

+ Particle Measuring System review and interface.

n

+ Validation protocol testing for new areas and facilities.

n

+ Ability to assist in performance of thorough investigations related to Microbiology Department functions.

Must be computer literate, with experience in spreadsheet and database applications

QUALIFICATIONS: n

nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: n

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of cleanroom related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experiences.

nJOB PREREQUISITES: n

+ Ability to meet attendance standards. All full-time employees are required to work a 40-hr week. At times it may be necessary to work additional hours in order to get the required tasks accomplished to meet deadlines.

n

+ Must be able to pass gown and glove qualification and requalification.


n

+ Requires sitting, standing, and bending and a normal range of hearing and vision.
