Camping World Web Analytics Engineer in Chicago, Illinois

Rarely -- and I mean RARELY -- do we use the word "corporate". It's stuffy, buttoned-up and not at all reflective of who we are. Those of us in Accounting, Inventory, Payroll, Benefits, Legal, Marketing, IT and HR are shared services and support the entire employee population for Camping World, Gander Outdoors, Good Sam and every other brand within our family. For those familiar with our departments, the work is self-explanatory, but where we work and how we work are definitely not. If you're still in love with the work you do, just not where you do it, join us in supporting the great outdoors!

Camping World is now hiring a Web Analytics Engineer to either be remote-based and/or based in our downtown Chicago corporate office. The Web Analytics Engineer will work in tangent with our web development teams to design and optimize our Google Tag Manager containers in line with business requirements and goals. With nearly 50 digital properties tracking across the enterprise, we are looking to scale our tracking framework and enable, maintain and execute data solutions quickly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an enterprise digital tracking strategy for ecommerce, lead generation and publication websites.

  • Plan and implement large Google Analytics & Google Tag Manager projects such as developing an A/B test tracking methodology.

  • Diagnose issues with existing platform configurations and tags, provide recommendations for improvement and implement new structures.

  • Migrate any existing hardcoded Universal Analytics and third-party tracking to Google Tag Manager.

  • Communicate build specifications for data layer schematics to the web development team.

  • Maintain documentation related to event taxonomy and data layer implementation requirements.

  • Execute thorough and rigorous testing for data quality assurance.

  • Collaborate cross-organizationally with various teams such as Web Development, Marketing and Analytics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) or more years of experience working with HTML, JavaScript, and SQL.

  • Knowledge of tracking methods such as pushing data layer and custom JavaScript to Google Tag Manager.

  • Experience working with ecommerce, lead generation, publication and peer-to-peer networking sites.

  • Detailed understanding working with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.

  • Experience with Big Query a plus.

  • Strong communication skills required.

  • Interest in tracking strategy and measuring results.
