HydroGeoLogic, Inc. (HGL) has a position open for a Staff Scientistin the Chicago area to support HGL s growing business associated with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Remedial Action Framework (RAF) contracts. HGL is a leader in the environmental remediation industry, with over 30 years of experience providing comprehensive engineering and design services by implementing innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that address environmental, infrastructure, and natural resource management challenges. HGL provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as Military Munitions Response Program support to EPA, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Air Force (AF), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and other federal and state government clients. This position may be filled in the following locations, depending on applicant qualifications: Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Chicago, IL; Kansas City, KS and San Francisco, CA (Bay Area).
The Staff Scientist will be responsible for directing environmental investigations, document preparation, and remediation construction under the direction of the project managers and senior staff members. The position will also require the Staff Scientist to assist with the developing maps and drawings, collecting general field data, and completing environmental sampling, and performing data entry and analysis.
Must demonstrate a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation and creativity. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail. Must also be willing to participate in all project tasks including but not limited to field work, data analysis and report preparation. Proficient in MS Office Suite and other MS Office applications.
Four or more years of directly related work experience in addition to education is required. Must have experience in environmental investigations, authoring technical reports, and reviewing and interpreting environmental data.
Minimum of a BA/BS degree in a field related to Environmental Studies such as Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, or Chemistry.
To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift up to 30 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes. The successful candidate will be required to possess or obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment. Travel, overtime and moderate physical work are routinely required.
A pre-hire drug test is required and baseline physical are required.
