Job Description Summary

As a Sr Staff UX Interaction Designer focused on platform UX and Imaging for GE Healthcare you will apply your knowledge of leading and defining UX projects and proven industry UX best practices to help research, define, sequence, prototype, design, test and deliver next-generation, intuitive diagnostic imaging software for 2D, 3D & VR/AR. You will help set a compelling, coherent UX direction for clinical applications to generate customer and user satisfaction, improve outcomes and save lives.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Lead, perform, help coordinate and guide UX , research and visual design work and UX research for various products and projects

  • Have a passion for healthcare, imaging and medicine, with a preferred background in one of these areas

  • Demonstrate strong work experience in UX for enterprise software development and delivery

  • Utilize your knowledge of Design Research, Visual Design, Interaction Design, Design Technology and Content Strategy by leading rapid research, design, prototyping and product development efforts in clinical imaging

  • Gain familiarity with and use our Enterprise design system at EdisonDesignSystem.com

  • Lead, coordinate and manage team discussions relative to UX. Independently lead design sprints, UX requirements definition sessions and design thinking workshops, and accurate scoping of the UX research and design work you will lead and perform

  • Work directly with clinical customers and users when possible, locally and around the world, to understand and validate business, diagnostic and technical needs, goals, work processes and outcomes

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Agile software development as well as Lean UX methodologies and can troubleshoot the challenges of integrating UX into an Agile model

  • Guide and help deliver effective documentation and communication of design - via personas, wireframes, mockups, workflows, interactive prototypes at low and high fidelity, user stories, data visualizations, written requirements, usability documentation and coded UI components

  • Be comfortable critiquing and guiding the visual design for the software components you lead, via a colleague or in your own work

Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Master’s Degree in Interaction, Graphic, or Industrial Design preferred or in “STEAM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or relevant work experience equivalent

  • 10+ years of professional experience in product design.

  • Fluent in English ( written and oral)

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Chicago IL or Waukesha, WI

Technical Expertise:

  • Uses participatory design activities (e.g. paper prototype co-creation, card sorting) to understand vision, business model and assumptions and tacit knowledge about user needs and behaviors.

  • Conducts user research to understand user needs, mental models and working contexts

  • Synthesizes output of stakeholder research & creates visualizations that effectively summarize key insights related to user and customer needs and behaviors, product definition.

  • Creates annotated prototypes or wireframes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a software application.

  • Skilled in standard design & wireframing tools (Adobe CC, OmniGraffle, Sketch), hand drawing and visual communication, time-based and interactive prototyping tools (Hype, Adobe Edge, Keynote).

Business Acumen:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of business products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors.

  • Understands and stays up to date on the industry’s technology landscape; brings new ideas to the team. Maps industry technology trends to internal vision.

  • Understands key principles of design thinking, what it is and why it is important. Explores all ideas, regardless of their source.

  • Works to create an understanding of how individual people and things fit within larger structures (like systems or organizations), as well as the relationships between parts of a system and the system as a whole.

Leadership:

  • Understands the value of a rigorous, collaborative and transparent decision-making process.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to key cultural issues.

  • Uses generative techniques (sketching, brainstorming, etc.) to establish a variety of possible design decisions and decision scenarios.

  • Expresses UX and design concepts to collaborators on cross functional teams. Goes beyond merely presenting designs, explains the story of the rationale and benefit of design ideas.

  • Understands the value of a rigorous and transparent decision-making process.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to key cultural issues.
