The Department/Team:

The Trading Technology Department consists of 23 technologists across development, quality assurance and DevOps teams. We are a full stack team providing all technology required by FRM’s global trading operations. These trading operations include the portfolio management, trading, and trade operations teams. Our systems include financial mathematics to calculate risk, order management and routing systems to send orders, market data, reporting, and trade reconciliation for a wide variety of financial instruments traded around the world.

Your Role/What You’ll Do:

The Senior Software Developer will work with other developers on the team in the creation of trading and risk systems which are used on a global basis. The person in this position is intended to take ownership of our in-house order management and routing systems. They will need pre-existing expertise to create, maintain and enhance such systems to support our growing business. This includes both client and server side software, database development, and FIX connection development. The person in this role will be able to take on responsibilities only limited by their abilities and will be able to work with a fair degree of independence. The ability to work and communicate clearly with other technical and non-technical team members including traders is a must.

Your Qualifications:

Required:

  • Degree in Mathematics or Computer Science preferred, alternatively substantial project experience would be considered in conjunction with different degrees

  • Solid and knowledge and recent experience with C# required

  • Experience with the FIX protocol required

  • SQL knowledge required

  • Ability to take on projects and operate with minimal oversight

  • Willingness to own products and take responsibility for their support

Desired:

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server preferred

  • User interface programming experience preferred

  • Sharp critical thinking skills, sound judgment and decision making ability, and both the ability and willingness to clearly articulate your ideas

  • Proactive communication and working style

  • An inherent sense of the value of collaboration

  • The ability to work both collaboratively and independently and to see the value of both in an iterative development process

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-pace environment where the client is always first
