Job overview and responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Manager, DevOps to join United Data Engineering team. This role would be part of a team that is responsible for enterprise-wide Data & analytics environment. In addition to requiring a high level of technical expertise in building enterprise wide big data infrastructure, you will work closely with peer business teams & Analytics team to innovate around business processes. Ideal candidates will have expertise in all phases of data & software lifecycle management processes.

As a senior manager, you will play a key role leading a team of DevOps engineers who will look to you for advice on technical and business challenges. You will guide the team and insist on highest standards for quality, maintainability, and performance. You will ensure that DevOps best practices are followed and the data systems and pipelines are highly-available, scalable and monitored. You will set the strategic direction as well as own and prioritize goals for your team. Successful candidates will be high-bandwidth leaders who can cut through the noise, simplify relentlessly, deliver results, and build great teams around themselves.

  • Develop and enhance DevOps Strategy

  • Apply DevOps technical experience, implement best practices, and expertise throughout all tasks

  • Work with Palantir and AWS tools and services to build/maintain pipelines

  • Ensure CI/CD tool implementations using Configuration-as-Code and Pipeline-as-Code strategies

  • Good knowledge on containerization using Kubernetes

  • Automate AWS implementations for new cloud computing systems or existing systems migrating to cloud architectures

  • Collaborate with and across Agile Data Engineering teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in full-stack development tools and technologies

  • Utilize programming languages like Java, Python,PySpark and NoSQL databases and Cloud based data warehousing services such as Redshift

  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community


  • BS Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience in managing technical teams and projects

  • 6+ years of experience leading an DevOps team familiar with large cloud environments, Big Data technologies

  • 4 + years in software development and infrastructure development

  • 3+ years’ experience with Batch and real time streaming

  • Build and manage DevOps capabilities in cloud offerings using CI/CD toolsets and automation

  • Ensure DevOps setup is built in a robust and scalable manner to manage growth and growing needs of customer group

  • Manage entire pipelines and working with tools such as GitHub, cloud formation

  • Demonstrable experience with distributed data warehousing and data processing systems such as Redshift

  • In depth knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouse like Teradata and SQL databases like MS SQL

  • Identify and develop metrics & dashboards to monitor pipelines and adoption and maturity of DevOps

  • Good understanding of all aspects of data architectures, data dictionaries, and data lineages in a large-scale enterprise environment

  • Experience with or solid understanding of data pipelines and event-driven architectures (Kinesis, Kafka)

  • Proficient with AWS Cloud technologies (i.e. S3, Lambda, EC2, CloudFormation, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline), Python, Spark, and Hadoop

  • Experience with AWS ECS managing multi-cluster container environments

  • Experience with application deployment strategies i.e. Blue-green, canary and rolling

  • Strong understanding and familiarity with the fundamentals of UNIX/Linux systems administration

  • Advanced knowledge of software lifecycles and testing automation

  • Work closely with Security and Identity management team

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and provide strategic insight and analysis to solve problems and make improvements

  • People management experience leading, recruiting data engineers within large-scaled environments

  • Ability to get your hands dirty and dig into detail when needed

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex issues to leadership and customers

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Master's Degree or MBA

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional
