The Buyer is responsible for the accurate and timely procurement and planning of products through our MRP system and maintaining targeted inventory levels. This role is expected to perform vendor negotiations and mitigate any impacts of price increase using publicly available data and managing the total cost of the product category. The Sr. Buyer manages category spend as well is a stake holder in the strategic direction. This role focuses on the achievement of customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and operational KPI’s to drive a reduction in cost of goods sold and improved working capital as well as customer satisfaction with quality and delivery. The position is in regular communications with sales and operational teams as well as the category vendors.

The successful candidate will have proven negotiation skills and have an established background in manufacturing, packaging, metals, or related industry within a fast-paced environment with a large SKU base.Strong time management, organization, attention to detail, computer and follow up skills are essential to success in this position.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and action the effective utilization of MRP/AFP to meet customer demand/expectations while maximizing inventory turns and cash flow.

  • Maintain primary and secondary suppliers to ensure availability for core products.

  • Manage the supply base with emphasis on cost reduction, quality improvement, on time delivery, inventory reduction, and lead-time reduction.

  • Qualify new suppliers to ensure that the capacity, material management, and quality programs meet or exceed established requirements.

  • Responsible for meeting and/or exceeding all monthly target KPI’s and drive continuous improvement.

  • Be knowledgeable of material market trends and any other factors that would influence pricing and obtain competitive quotes based on business initiatives.

  • Negotiate supplier agreements and contracts.

  • Effectively communicate with internal teams acting as the liaison with Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and Manufacturing with regard to the sourcing needs of existing products as well as new product development initiatives.

Education/Training/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 5+ years relevant supply chain experience

  • Proven negotiations experience

  • MRP experience required

  • NAV/AFP experience a plus

  • Microsoft Office experience
