Duties and Responsibilities

A Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Sodhi. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist to join a dynamic research team exploring fundamental questions about the molecular basis of psychiatric illness. Projects will be data-driven, using a reverse translational approach. We aim to consolidate data generated from human studies (including investigations of postmortem human brain) using animal models and cell culture techniques. Our projects provide opportunities to become proficient in state-of-the-art techniques such as next generation sequencing, gene editing and behavioral pharmacology.

Qualifications

PhD or MD/PhD in neuroscience or psychiatric genetics is required, laboratory expertise and at least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal as first author.

The Research Associate participates substantially in full-time, mentored research or scholarship. It is a transitional position and is viewed as preparatory for an academic and/or research career. The scholar may also serve as a collaborator on a multi-scholar research initiative, and may have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger project under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
