Job Description:
The Rush University Alzheimer's Disease Center (RADC) is a leading experimental and epidemiological center for the study of Alzheimer's disease. Over the past decade, the RADC has carried out numerous community-based cohort studies and generated multi-omic data from human specimens (https://www.radc.rush.edu/).An ongoing effort is to expand our Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) platform to discover molecular biomarkers and genetic drivers for early diagnosis and therapeutic interventions ofAlzheimer's disease. As part of this major expansion, we are seeking a highly motivated Post doctoral Research Scientist in NGS and Molecular Genomics . This Scientist will lead our NGS effort in developing cutting-edge sequencing platform and single cell multi-omics technologies.
Job Responsibilities
Develop new NGS and single cell omics capabilities and workflows
Conduct day-to-day NGS experiments, problem solving and work prioritization
Stay up to date with new technologies associated with NGS sample preparation, library construction and target capture
Ability to independently troubleshoot, solve technical problems related to NGS assay design and execution
Coordinate with other team members and communicate with PIs/outside collaborators to address their specific needs
Run bioinformatics analysis and quality control for NGS datasets toensure data quality
Ability to calculate, graph and compile NGS data and present results in scientific meetings
Train and mentor Research Assistants
NGS capacity planning, billing and writing scientific reports
Job Requirements
PhD or equivalent degree in the fields of Molecular biology, Genetics, Functional Genomics, Biochemistry,Bioinformatics,Neuroscience or related fields
Extensive demonstrated experience in molecular biology and genetics/genomics including DNA/RNA isolation and manipulation,vector cloning, PCR, qPCR, NGS library prep, QC and sequencing.
Experience with single cell multi-omics and 10X Genomics technologies
Experience with high throughput operation of automated liquid handler
Proficiency with CRISPR genome engineering is a plus
Proficiency withbioinformaticssoftware packages (such as R,Pythonand JMP) is a plus
Demonstrated superior ability for experiment planning, execution and troubleshooting, and ability to develop/optimize new assays
Demonstrated skills in organization, analysis and communication
Proven ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments
