Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chica Post Doc Associate-Kawasaki disease (Dr. Rowley Lab) in Chicago, Illinois

The Rowley lab at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and Northwestern University Medical School is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Post-Doctoral Research Associate. The main focus of the Rowley laboratory is the etiology/pathogenesis of Kawasaki disease, and the lab seeks a post-doctoral researcher with experience in immunology and molecular biology to move forward exciting preliminary studies of the etiology of Kawasaki disease. The Rowley lab also studies B cell (plasmablast) responses to infection and autoimmune diseases. The Post-Doctoral Associate will design and conduct research in collaboration with Dr. Rowley, performing experiments, data analysis, and preparation of manuscripts for publication. The anticipated studies would include flow cytometry with single cell isolation; RNA and DNA extraction and purification; sequencing data analysis; cell culture, transfection, and protein isolation; histologic studies of paraffin-embedded tissue sections including immunohistochemistry; and immunoblotting. This position requires the ability to work independently and, if needed, to collaborate with other researcher and core laboratories. For more information, please see the lab’s website:

  • Provide researchers as requested with technical assistance.

  • Performs job functions adhering to principals of innovation, academic excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality research effort to our Institution, co-workers and others.

  • Molecular biology, cloning, protein analysis, flow cytometry, and others.

  • Analyzing data.

  • Preparing data for presentations, grants and publications.

  • Help write grant proposals and progress reports related to research projects.

  • Participate in regular lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars.

  • Other job functions as assigned.

  • PHD. in Biology or related discipline.

  • Knowledge in Computer programs, word, excel and power point presentations.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Organizational skills: Ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requestsand needs, sometimes in stressful situations.
