Role Overview

The Maintenance Quality Control Manager is responsible for facilitating the training and competency requirements across all shops nationwide to enable safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance services to meet customer expectations and regulatory compliance.

Position Responsibilities

  • Identify training requirements for each mechanic competency level

  • Develop training curriculum for each task the EE is to be qualified

  • Directly perform or aid in the initial training of new hires to prepare them for assessments and qualifications

  • Implement a Train-the-Trainer program to identify and designate local Managers and Leads qualified to train others to meet competency requirements

  • Create step-by-step procedures (Standard Work Instructions) with regulatory references for each task

  • Create a centralized/systematic repository for all policies and procedures for EE’s to reference

  • Determine measurable criteria for each task and develop assessment forms

  • Conduct assessments to objectively qualify EE to the task

  • Ensure Quala U Shop Certification is completed by new hires during their first 30 days

  • Ensure all EE’s are trained every 3 years on Hazmat requirements per 172.704

  • NCR – Nonconformance Reports – will lead all root cause analysis investigations on all quality failures and report out findings with corrective actions plan

  • R Stamp

  • Will identify potential sites needing R Stamp certification

  • Will lead the preparation of initial R Stamp audits

  • Perform as the Quality Control Manager for Quala

  • As a backup, perform initial Confined Space Entry training on behalf of the EHS team as a designated trainer for new hires

  • Assist with new shop startups, as directed by the VP of Maintenance

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Maintenance

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business

  • 5+ years related work experience; 3rd party repair center/shop experience a plus

  • Working knowledge of ASME Section IX code; R Stamp experience

  • Extensive knowledge of HM183 inspection in relation to 180.407

  • Extensive knowledge of Brake Inspector requirements per 396.25 and Annual Inspector requirements per 396.19

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail

  • Knowledge of labor relations, safety/environmental regulations, employee development, equipment maintenance, and sales

  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines

  • Lean / Six Sigma experience preferred

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Highly proficient in MS Office and the use of Internet

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
