Department: 1 Piece making paper plates and souffle cups

Schedule: 1st (7:00AM 3:00PM), 2nd shift (3:00PM 11:00PM), 3rd (11:00PM 7:00AM), COP A/B (7:00AM 7:00PM), or COP C/D (7:00PM 7:00AM)

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Makes repairs and corrections based on observation of equipment in operation and product defects

  • Changes basic machine parts with supervision of experienced mechanics

  • Tests machines following repairs to ensure good product quality prior to returning machine to service

  • Lubricates and cleans parts including bearings, shafts and gears

  • Performs preventive maintenance functions.

  • Orders parts and uses computerized maintenance system to keep accurate maintenance records

  • Informs appropriate management personnel of equipment and parts needs

  • Performs basic belt and chain installations on conveyors

  • Assists with training and development of Machine Operators

  • Complies with all company plant, safety, and GMP’s rules

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Maintenance Mechanic candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues

  • Ability to work overtime as needed

  • Ability to work every other weekend

  • One (1) year mechanical experience on high speed manufacturing equipment

  • Diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills to analyze mechanical problems

  • Ability to work with limited supervision

  • Ability to use precision measuring tools ("C", micrometer, Vernier, Depth Micrometer)

  • Ability to provide own set maintenance hand tools

  • Ability to perform basic math computations (addition, subtraction, multiply, and divide; including fractions and decimals)

  • Ability to use a ruler and tape measure

  • Ability to use a thread die

  • Ability to tape a hole and drill

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings

  • Ability to identify screw types and descriptions

  • Ability to understand proper part fit (Slip fit/ press fit/ key to keyway/ gears to shafts/ etc.)

  • Good attendance is a condition of employment
