Intern – Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Technical Services

Tyson Foods Inc. is looking to add Food Safety & Quality Assurance interns to its team for the summer of 2021. The interns will work out of our Tyson Foods Corporate Office located in downtown Chicago, Illinois. The selected interns will participate in food safety & quality assurance facility audits, develop standardized enterprise-wide food safety & quality assurance training programs, support Tyson Foods innovation and product development projects, participate and lead technical services assigned projects, as well as in other food safety & quality assurance projects as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in production facility food safety & quality assurance audits

  • Develop enterprise-wide training programs and post-training assessments

  • Support FSQA team’s efforts providing data entry in the FSQA project database

  • Support FSQA team’s objectives through analyzing and reporting against KPIs

  • Support FSQA team’s development and implementation of enterprise-wide programs

  • Support Technical Services through maintaining/completing manufacturing instructions

  • Assist supply chain in understanding plant capabilities through plant testing to verify product performance, labor, and yields

  • Support operations and technical services for trouble-shooting and problem resolution; collect data, run tests, and conduct experiments to develop resolution to problems.


Education: Bachelor’s degree in food science, animal science, food microbiology or nutrition (Junior or Senior); GPA of at least 3.0Communication skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsSpecial Skills: Detail oriented, organized; prior experience with meeting deadlines; self-motivated and self-starter; able to multi-task and manage time efficiently.

Computer skills: Experience with Microsoft officeTravel: 50-75%
