The General Maintenance Technician position centers around a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment and systems. The General Maintenance Technician provides technical understanding of and practical experience with the distribution, production, and components associated with multiple electrical, motor, water, air, heating and cooling systems. General Maintenance Technicians operate, maintain, and perform basic repairs on most equipment and systems in the plant to which they are assigned. This individual will be responsible for following safety programs for all facility activities and equipment, as well as assisting and maintaining trouble call procedures for facilities. The individual in this role must work a rotating shift schedule, be available for call-in work, and must obtain a NIULPE Certification within one year of employment.





+ Operate, maintain, and perform basic repair on most equipment and systems in the plant

+ Apply technical understanding of and practical experience with distribution, production and components associated with:


Steam, condensate, chilled water, electrical motors, paralleling switch gear, motor control centers, condenser systems, variable frequency drives, reciprocating engines, generators, compressed air and compressors, pumps, chillers, air handlers, boilers, cooling towers, pneumatic and low voltage control systems


+ Operate Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) equipment

+ Start-up activities including trouble shooting

+ Positively interact with customers as needed

+ Maintain tracking for long-term performance evaluations and adherence to baseline requirements

+ Adhere to the safety program for all facility activities and personnel:


Safety training; tagging and labeling, SDS administration, Injury and near miss reporting, following proper procedure for all maintenance activities, procurement of all safety equipment, inventory, and maintenance


+ Assist and maintain establishment of maintenance and work order procedures for the facility that effectively communicate problems and recommend a course of Assists with and performs preventative maintenance procedures to assure the plant equipment is in good working condition.

+ Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials

+ Maintain a clean and safe workspace

+ Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner

+ Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by management

nQualificationsnJOB REQUIREMENTS:n





+ High School Diploma or GED with three to six (3-6) years' related experience

+ 4th Class Power Engineer NIULPE License Certification or higher (achieved before or within 1 year of employment in the position)

+ Basic computer skills required including data input, work order coordination and daily logs.




+ Associate's degree (AA or AS) or Technical degree with six to eight (6-8) years' related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience


+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, )

+ Ability to learn and operate a forklift

+ Ability to proficiently operate various electronic control panels on machinery

+ Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule, nig ts, weekends, and holidays as needed

+ Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

+ Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, manuals,

+ Ability to compose and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

+ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and make valid decisions

+ Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

+ Maturity and ability to communicate professionally with all levels of ESG management, clients, customers, and the public

+ Ability to successfully complete a mechanical and electrical aptitude assessment
